NMSU Golf Course ranks among top 25 collegiate golf courses in the country

New Mexico State University’s Golf Course has once again ranked in Golf Advisor’s list of “Top 25 College Golf Courses - Golfers’ Choice 2024.” The ranking comes from Golf Advisor’s “GolfNow,” an online booking service for tee times at golf courses around the country.
 
“The ranking validates all the hard work we have done over the years. For the most part we are self-made,” said Jason White, golf course director at NMSU Golf Course. “Besides the new irrigation system that was installed in 2014, the improvements made to the golf course layout have been completed by our maintenance staff. A ranking like this, voted on by golfers, proves we are moving in the right direction.”  
 
NMSU placed 18th on the list, which includes reviews, ratings, and green fee information. White said the golf course is a highly visible asset to the university, and this ranking adds to NMSU’s accomplishments on the academic side. “Our golf course has the opportunity to elevate the image of the university and this ranking helps on that front.”  
 
One of the main priorities of the NMSU Golf Course is inclusivity, which can be seen in the course’s display and layout.  
 
“First and foremost, our culture and our commitment are to golfers of all levels and abilities,” White said. “The layout and course conditions are challenging to the point where the NMSU Golf Course is capable of hosting NCAA Championships, USGA Qualifiers, Sun Country Amateur Championships and Sun Country PGA Championships. On the other side of the equation, beginning golfers and most golfers that frequent our facility will find a golf course that that they will enjoy from start to finish.”  
 
The NMSU Golf Course also offers lesson programming that caters to golfers of all abilities and a full-service pro shop with a large selection of golf equipment and NMSU merchandise. The course is open to the public and everyone is welcome to spend some time on the green.  
 
“Without the support of the NMSU students, Auxiliary Services team, administration, and of course our customers, we would not have been able to accomplish a fraction of what you see today at the NMSU Golf Course,” White added. “We strive to improve each and every day while providing outstanding customer service. The Golf Advisor Rankings are for our customers as much as they are for our facility and university.”
